Version: 2026-10-17.
These terms are a contract between you and Ascendify ("Ascendify", "we"), a Sole Proprietorship of Aman Krishna Gupta (GSTIN 23BIHPG9767J1ZT; principal place of business: Block No. 13, Phase 2, Maa Narmade Nagar, Bilhari, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh 482020, India). They cover the TrapFree apps for Mac, Windows, Android, iPhone and iPad, the TrapFree website and account pages, and the TrapFree server.
Please read them with these documents, which are part of the same agreement:
| Document | What it covers | Where |
|---|---|---|

| Subscription terms | TrapFree Pro, the free trial, renewals, cancelling | ascendify.pro/trapfree/legal/subscription |
| Refund and cancellation policy | Refunds for the wallet, Pro and store purchases; cancelling | ascendify.pro/trapfree/legal/refunds |

| Open-source notices | The open-source parts inside each app and their licences | In every app; ascendify.pro/trapfree/legal/open-source |
If these terms and one of those documents disagree about its own subject (for example a refund), that document wins.
1. What TrapFree is
TrapFree is self-control software. You choose your own rules while you are calm, and TrapFree keeps them when you are tired.
- Always off: YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and TikTok.
- Daily limit: YouTube and Instagram each get 5, 10 or 15 minutes a day (you choose). The day for each site is the 24 hours that start when you first use it. The minutes are shared by all your signed-in devices. On a day adjusted to how your days go (below), each limit is at most 15 minutes higher or at most 10 minutes lower, never below 5 minutes, for that day only.
- Verticals: 15 minutes a day of Shorts and Reels, one clip at a time, only when you press Start.
- Two free doors: "3 min now" (once per calendar day for each of YouTube, Instagram and Shorts + Reels) and "2 min later" (opens by itself after a random 3–5 minute wait, for 2 minutes; 3 per rolling 7 days). On a stricter day "3 min now" can be closed for that day (below).
- Adjusting to how your days go: on unless you switch it off. After 3 good days in a row, the next day each daily limit is 10 minutes higher; after 2 hard days in a row, the next day is one step stricter (each limit 5 minutes lower, never below 5 minutes, and "3 min now" closed that day if a limit is already 5 minutes). Each change lasts until midnight in your account's time zone. Our server decides, by the rules in "How TrapFree works"; the numbers are our settings and the app shows the ones in force. A reward is free: it cannot be bought, saved, stacked, moved to another day or account, or turned into wallet minutes. Spending wallet minutes never makes a day good or hard.
- The wallet: minutes of extra time you buy in packs and spend after a 5-second yellow warning (see the wallet terms).
- Your block list: any site you choose, for a set time or forever.
- Focus Lock: locks YouTube, Instagram and Shorts + Reels on every device until a time you choose (up to 24 hours ahead). TrapFree has no way to end it early. While it is on, the free doors, the block-list peek and wallet spends are not available.
- TrapFree Pro: an optional subscription. It adds up to 5 devices on one daily budget, an unlimited block list, strict network mode on computers, 13 months of history, the weekly report and "protection off" alerts. It adds nothing else (see the subscription terms).
What each device can do is different. Computers can enforce every rule. Android and iPhone can enforce most of them, in the ways Apple and Google allow. For example, no iPhone app can block only Shorts inside the YouTube app, so on iPhone the YouTube app is limited as a whole. "How TrapFree works" lists what each device can and cannot do. We never claim more than that page says.
2. Who may use TrapFree
- You must be 18 or older. When you create an account we ask for your month and year of birth. If you are under 18 we create no account and keep nothing. The app may also ask your app store for your age range: on Android, Google Play; on iPhone and iPad, Apple, where Apple says the law requires an age check. If the store says you are under 18, we create no account. On iPhone and iPad the app tells our server only that, and we erase the sign-in code we sent you, with your phone number or email, at once; on Android, or if the iPhone cannot reach our server, the code is deleted with your phone number or email within 25 hours. If the store must first confirm your age, or, on iPhone and iPad, you decline Apple's check or it does not answer, we create no account until the check is done; the sign-in code is deleted in the same way (privacy notice, section 14). We keep only "18 or older: yes" and the date, never your month or year of birth.
- Your own devices only. You may install and use TrapFree only on a device that you own, or that you are authorised to manage (for example, a work laptop whose owner has agreed in writing). Never install TrapFree on someone else's device without their knowledge and agreement, and never use it to watch or limit another adult. TrapFree has no hidden mode. It always shows that it is running.
- One account belongs to one person. Do not share your account or sign in with someone else's phone number or email.
3. Your licence to use TrapFree
- We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use TrapFree on devices allowed by section 2, for your own non-commercial use, while you follow these terms.
- The number of devices you can sign in to depends on your plan: 1 on Free, up to 5 on Pro.
- TrapFree includes open-source software (for example mitmproxy on computers). Each part stays under its own licence, listed in the app under "Open-source notices" and on our open-source notices page. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences.
- We own TrapFree, its name, its design and its code. The TRAPFREE name is our trademark ([™ until registered]). You may not use our name or marks without our written permission.
- iPhone and iPad: if you got TrapFree from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) is the licence for the app itself. These terms still cover your account, the wallet, Pro and our service. [DECISION: CA-25 — lawyer confirms Apple's standard EULA (recommended), or these terms become a custom EULA with Apple's minimum terms added]
4. Not medical treatment
TrapFree helps you cut down on short videos and time on YouTube and Instagram. It is not a medical treatment or a cure for any condition, and it is not a substitute for professional help. We make no health claims. If you are worried about your wellbeing, please talk to a qualified professional.
5. Honest friction: what TrapFree makes you wait for
TrapFree works because loosening your own rules takes time. We show every wait before you agree to it. On a Mac or a Windows PC, the install screen shows the removal wait and links these terms before you press Install; pressing it means you agree to them. By turning a rule on you agree that undoing it takes the time shown here.
| You ask to… | What happens |
|---|---|
| Make any rule stricter (lower the limit, add a site, turn a filter on, start Focus Lock) | Applies at once, on every device |
| Turn on "Adjust my limit to how my days go" | Applies at once, on every device |
| Raise the daily limit | Applies at a random moment 72–96 hours later. Any device can cancel it. |
| Remove a site from your block list early | Applies at a random moment 3–4 days later. "Keep blocked" cancels it. |
| Turn off the adult filter or strict network mode | Applies at a random moment 3–4 days later |
| Turn off "Adjust my limit to how my days go" | Applies at a random moment 72–96 hours later. "Keep it on" cancels it. |
| End Focus Lock | Not possible in TrapFree. It ends at the time you chose (at most 24 hours ahead). On a phone you can still switch off TrapFree's access or delete the app. |
| Remove TrapFree from a Mac or Windows PC | A random 14–23 hour wait, then a 90-minute window to confirm. You can cancel at any time. Confirmed removal deletes everything TrapFree added and restores your original network settings. |
| Remove TrapFree from an Android phone or iPhone | Possible at any time: delete the app, or switch off its Accessibility (Android) or Screen Time (iPhone) access. Your other devices then show "Protection off on <device>", and that day does not count as within your limit. |
Some things are always true:
- There is no pay-to-uninstall. Paying never shortens or skips a removal wait or any of the loosening waits in the table above. The wallet only opens a blocked site for the minutes you spend, after the yellow warning. Removal is always possible after the wait shown.
- Cancelling Pro never needs removal, and removal never cancels Pro. They are separate actions.
- Signing out or deleting your account does not remove protection. The apps keep their last rules on that device. Only the removal steps above remove protection.
- A person with administrator rights on a computer can always remove software by hand. TrapFree's waits are honest friction, not a lock.
- Support removal: if TrapFree blocks something you truly need on one device (for example network trouble, a failed update, or you are selling the device), our support team can, after checking it is you on a second channel, issue a one-device removal key valid for 24 hours. We issue at most one per device in 90 days, and we record who issued it and why.
6. Your account
- You sign in with a mobile number or an email address and a one-time code. There are no passwords.
- Keep your phone and email secure. Anyone who can receive your codes can use your account. If your account has both a phone number and an email address, either one can recover it.
- Your time zone sets the "calendar day" for door 1 and the block-list peek. You can ask us to change it (write to [email protected]), at most once every 7 days.
- You can see and export your data, sign out, remove devices and delete your account at any time (see the privacy notice and the account deletion page).
7. The wallet, Pro, referrals and the trial
- The wallet is a core part of TrapFree. You buy packs of minutes; the price on every buy button is the total you pay, with any tax included; minutes never expire, belong to your account and work on all your devices where TrapFree offers the wallet. Every spend shows a yellow warning and waits at least 5 seconds before you can confirm. Once you spend, the clock runs whether you watch or not. Wallet minutes are not money. The wallet terms set out every rule.
- TrapFree Pro is an optional subscription. The subscription terms set out prices, renewal, reminders, cancelling and what happens when Pro ends. When Pro ends, nothing that protects you switches off.
- Referrals: if a friend uses your invitation code within 7 days of creating their account, you both get 30 days of Pro once their account has kept protection on for 3 days. You can be rewarded for up to 5 friends in any 365 days. Details are in the subscription terms.
- Purchases through Apple or Google are also subject to the App Store's or Google Play's own terms, which govern the payment.
- Purchases on our website outside India are sold by Paddle.com as merchant of record; Paddle's buyer terms govern the payment. If you live in the EU or the UK, your 14-day right to withdraw, how to use it and how fast you are refunded are in the refund policy (section 4).
- Prices on our website in India: until Ascendify is registered for GST, no GST is charged and you get a receipt. Once it is registered, prices include 18 % GST, the pay page says "GST included", and you get a GST tax invoice (and a credit note if you are refunded).
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- install or use TrapFree on a device in breach of section 2, or use it to monitor or control another person;
- get around TrapFree's licence, plans, wallet, prices, limits or the daily score on our server (for example by faking purchases or usage reports, changing grants, or replaying requests), except by the honest routes the app offers;
- copy, sell, rent or re-distribute TrapFree, or reverse engineer it, except where the law or an open-source licence lets you;
- attack, overload or probe our server, or send automated requests other than through our apps (security researchers: please use the contact in our security.txt);
- misuse sign-in codes (for example sending codes to numbers that are not yours);
- create fake accounts or abuse referrals or the free trial;
- use the 3-day test build to remove or weaken a real TrapFree installation, or try to make it do so.
If you break these rules we may refuse a purchase, suspend features, or close your account (section 12). While our support team checks signs of faked usage reports or reused grants on your account, it gets no rewards for good days; stricter days still apply, and nothing else changes.
9. Other companies' services
TrapFree works with YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok but is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, Meta or ByteDance. Those services change often. When they change, TrapFree may miss something or block something it should not until we update it. We fix such problems as fast as we reasonably can (on Android, often through a signed rules update without a new app version).
Your use of those services stays under their own terms. TrapFree never hides or skips their ads; it blocks whole Shorts, Reels and TikTok surfaces.
10. Updates and availability
- We update TrapFree to fix problems, follow store rules and keep up with the sites it works with. An app far below the minimum supported version shows "Update TrapFree" and may stop syncing until you update. Protection on the device keeps working from its last rules.
- Settings we change from our server can only switch features that already exist in the app you installed. We never download new code into the phone apps.
- Every rule keeps working without the internet, from the last known state. The wallet, door 2 and syncing between devices need the internet.
- We aim to keep the server running at all times but cannot promise it will never be interrupted.
11. Our responsibility to you
- We provide TrapFree with reasonable care and skill. Your rights under the consumer protection law that applies to you are not affected by anything in these terms.
- As far as the law allows, TrapFree is provided "as is": we do not promise that it will block every short video, never block a page you wanted, or work with every browser, app or device setting.
- As far as the law allows, we are not liable for:
- loss of data, profits, business or opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss;
- things you missed because TrapFree blocked them as your rules said;
- problems caused by other companies' services, devices or networks, or by changes you or another person made to your device.
- As far as the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us in those 12 months, or [₹ amount] if that is more.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
12. Ending this agreement
- You can stop using TrapFree at any time: cancel any subscription (always instant to request; see "How to cancel"), remove TrapFree from your devices (after the waits in section 5) and delete your account.
- We may suspend or close an account for fraud, abuse, a serious breach of these terms, or when the law requires it. Unless the law or a security risk prevents it, we tell you first and give you a chance to respond. If we close an account, we refund unused wallet minutes from purchases that were not fraudulent and, if we did not close it because of fraud, the unused part of a paid Pro period bought on our website, as the refund policy describes.
- If we stop offering TrapFree, we will tell you at least [90] days ahead and refund the unused part of any prepaid Pro period, and refund, at the price you paid, the unused wallet minutes from purchases on our website; for minutes bought through Apple or Google we will help you ask them for a refund. Protection already on your devices will keep its last rules, and you can remove it at any time.
13. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms to reflect changes to TrapFree, the law or store rules. For a change that matters to you:
- We tell you at least [30] days before it applies: by email if your account has an email address, on your account page (ascendify.pro/trapfree/account), and in the app.
- Your account page shows "We have updated our Terms of Service", one line on what changes and the date it applies, with a link to read the terms, then Not now and Agree, the same size. The app shows the same.
- Until that date, Not now changes nothing. From that date, we may ask you to agree before a new purchase. Your protection, your rules, the free doors and minutes already in your wallet never wait.
- If you do not agree, you can stop using TrapFree and delete your account; you keep any refund rights you already have.
Changes never apply to a purchase you made before the change.
14. Law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the laws of India. This does not take away any protection that the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live gives you, including your right to bring a claim in your local courts where that law allows it.
- Please contact us first: make a complaint with the complaint form on our website (ascendify.pro/trapfree/legal/complaint), by email to our grievance officer (details on the contact page) or in the app (Settings → Support → Make a complaint). The form gives you a ticket number and a copy of your complaint as we recorded it at once; by email you get them within 48 hours. Our grievance officer resolves every complaint within one month. You can also go to India's National Consumer Helpline or a consumer commission at any time.
- Subject to the two points above, the courts at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India have jurisdiction.
