Shorts, Reels and TikTok, closed. YouTube and Instagram, on a budget.
TrapFree closes Shorts, Reels and TikTok for good and gives YouTube and Instagram 5, 10 or 15 minutes a day each, shared by every device you sign in on. Start at 09:30 and the minutes are back at 09:30 tomorrow.
Free on one device. For people aged 18 and over.
Four rules, the same on every device.
Closed. Always.
Shorts, Reels and TikTok never open: no door, no wallet, no exceptions. The rest of YouTube and Instagram stays usable.
A daily budget for each app
Choose 5, 10 or 15 minutes for YouTube and for Instagram, on all your devices together. Minutes come back 24 hours after the first one you used.
Two free doors
“3 min now” opens at once, once a day, for something urgent. “2 min later” waits 3 to 5 minutes, then opens for 2; three a week.
The wallet
Buy minutes in packs when you choose to. Every spend waits 5 seconds on a yellow warning that shows this month's total. Minutes never expire.
Making the budget stricter works at once. Making it looser waits a random 3 to 4 days, so a weak moment can't undo it.
Four screens. Nothing to type.
One choice on each screen, then one button. You can change anything later.
- How strict. Light (15 min), Balanced (10 min), Strict (5 min) or Max (5 min, every category at its strictest): your daily minutes on YouTube and on Instagram.
- About you. Who you are, your age group and where you live. Each is optional; “Rather not say” keeps nothing.
- Your habits. A slider for each of six categories, starting at a suggestion you can move. Shorts, Reels, TikTok and adult sites are always blocked.
- Ready. A summary of what will be set up, then Install.
TrapFree is for adults (18+). By installing you agree to the Terms and the Privacy notice; we keep your answers to set up TrapFree. After installing you may sign in, or skip it: your answers wait on the device until you do.
Six categories, open when you choose.
Social media, Movies & series, Shopping, Gaming, Betting & gambling and News & browsing: each gets a level. Above “Rarely”, a category stays closed until you open it, a set number of times a day or a week.
| Level | What TrapFree allows |
|---|---|
| 0 Rarely | No limit |
| 1 Sometimes | 2 hours a day, in 30-minute opens |
| 2 Often | 1 hour a day, in 30-minute opens |
| 3 Every day | 3 times a week, 1 hour each |
| 4 Hours a day | Twice a week, 1 hour each |
| 5 Can't stop | Once a week, 1 hour |
- You open a category yourself, on the Today screen of any of your devices. Its time runs from then to its end, whether you use it or not.
- Daily opens start again at midnight, weekly ones on Monday at midnight, in your account's time zone.
- An open counts on all your devices: Shopping opened on your Mac is open on your phone too, until the same time.
- Opening a category is free. No category can be opened while Focus Lock is on.
- A stricter level works at once. A looser one waits a random 3 to 4 days.
Computers close a category's websites; Android also closes its apps; iPhone and iPad close the apps you pick for it. How each device does it
A starting point for people like you.
Your age group and where you live help the setup start with the apps that pull people like you the most. Everyone with the same answers gets the same suggestion, and you can move every slider.
- In India, the short-video apps popular there join Shorts, Reels and TikTok: always blocked. Local apps and sites join Social media, Movies & series, Shopping, Gaming and Betting & gambling too.
- In 15 states, regional streaming services join Movies & series as well: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
- Local lists cover India today. Other countries start from the suggestion for everyone.
- Your age group can move the starting point. For example, for people aged 18 to 24, Social media and Gaming start one level stricter and Instagram starts one step (5 minutes) lower.
- No GPS and no location permission. Your country comes from your device. Your state only if you press “Find my state” (our server looks up the approximate place of your internet address and keeps nothing) or pick it from a list.
- Every answer is optional. “Rather not say” keeps nothing, and you can remove your answers in Settings.
YouTube and Instagram, each with its own limit.
Each app gets 5, 10 or 15 minutes a day, for all your devices together. How strict you chose sets both; your answers may start one of them a step lower.
- Lowering a limit works at once on every device.
- Raising one waits a random 3 to 4 days, so a weak moment can't undo it.
- Each app's minutes come back 24 hours after the first one you used.
- When an app's minutes are used up, its two free doors and your wallet work as before.
Your limit, adjusted to your days.
Each night our server looks back at your day, from what it already holds: your minutes, the doors you used and whether protection was on.
3 good days in a row
The next day, YouTube and Instagram each get 10 extra minutes.
A good day: every app within its limit, no “2 min later” door, and protection on all day.
2 hard days in a row
The next day is one step stricter: each app gets 5 minutes less, never under 5. If a limit is already 5 minutes, the “3 min now” door stays closed that day instead.
A hard day: protection switched off, every free door used, or a limit reached before 12:00.
- Either change lasts that day only. A day that is neither good nor hard doesn't break a run.
- Wallet spends don't count either way.
- Extra minutes come only from our server, signed with its key: no device can add time by itself. If something looks tampered with, extra minutes pause until our support team has checked.
- On iPhone and iPad, Screen Time data never leaves the device: there, only the doors and protection count.
- You can turn it off in Settings. Turning it off waits a random 3 to 4 days, like every loosening; turning it on works at once.
Your browsing stays on your device.
TrapFree decides on the device. Our server keeps only what one account across devices needs: minutes per sector, your rules, your wallet and your plan.
- Page addresses, video titles, searches and page content never leave your device.
- On computers the filter opens only YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Banking, email and every other site pass through unopened.
- Diagnostics are technical only. The detailed ones stay off until you switch them on.
- No ads, no analytics and no trackers, on this website too.
