TrapFree Test — Tester agreement

Shown on the testing page https://ascendify.pro/trapfree/test before any download, with an unticked box: "I am 18 or older and I agree to the tester agreement, including the diagnostics it describes." The downloads (Mac and Windows), the Google Play testing link (Android) and the TestFlight link (iPhone) appear only after the box is ticked.

This agreement is between you and Ascendify (proprietor: Aman Krishna Gupta) ("we"). The TrapFree Terms of Service and the privacy notice also apply; where they differ about the test program, this agreement wins.

In short: TrapFree Test is a free, separate test version of TrapFree. It works for 3 days, then stops blocking and asks you to uninstall it. It comes with ₹100 of test money that has no value. While you test, it sends detailed technical diagnostics to us, never your browsing. It may have bugs and comes with no warranty.

1. Who can take part

  1. You must be 18 or older.
  2. Install TrapFree Test only on a device that you own or are authorised to manage.
  3. Taking part is voluntary and unpaid. Apart from the Pro features and test money built into every test account, which work only inside TrapFree Test and have no value, you get no money, real wallet minutes, real Pro time or other reward for testing.
  4. We may open, pause or close the program, and end any test licence, at any time.

2. What TrapFree Test is

  1. A separate app. It is called "TrapFree Test" and has its own identity on every device: its own app id, folders, services, firewall rules, certificate ("TrapFree Test Local Filter") and proxy port (8090) on computers.
  2. It never touches real TrapFree.
    • On Mac and Windows it refuses to install if any part of real TrapFree is present, changes nothing, and tells you why.
    • Its uninstaller can only remove TrapFree Test's own parts.
    • Installing real TrapFree later removes TrapFree Test first.
    • On Android and iPhone it refuses to switch on blocking while the real TrapFree app is installed.
  3. It has every feature of TrapFree, with a banner showing the time left ("Test build · 2 days 4 h left").
  4. What it changes on a computer, while installed: like real TrapFree it adds a local certificate that lets it read YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok pages on that computer only, a system proxy, firewall rules, hosts entries and (if you choose the adult filter or strict mode) DNS settings. It creates the certificate on your computer and the private key never leaves it. "How TrapFree works" explains each part.

3. The 3-day licence

  1. On first start, TrapFree Test registers and gets a test licence that ends 72 hours later.
  2. When it ends, blocking stops at once. The test never traps anyone. The app shows "Your 3-day test is over. Thank you!" with an Uninstall now button (one click; on Mac and Windows your computer asks for the administrator password) and reminds you once a day until you uninstall.
  3. You can uninstall TrapFree Test at any time, before or after the 3 days, [without a waiting period].
  4. You can install it again through the testing page while the program is open; each new install gets a new 3-day licence.

4. Test accounts and the ₹100 test money

  1. TrapFree Test signs in only to a test account. You can use the same phone number or email as your real account, but the two accounts are completely separate: nothing moves between them, and real TrapFree refuses test accounts.
  2. Every test account starts with ₹100 of test money. Wallet packs show real prices, and "paying" happens on a page clearly labelled TEST, which takes the amount from your test money. Minutes bought this way work like real ones on that test account's devices.
  3. Test money is not money. It has no value, cannot be withdrawn, transferred, refunded or exchanged for anything, and never becomes real wallet minutes or Pro.
  4. TrapFree Test never charges you. It never sends you to Razorpay, Paddle, Google Play or the App Store for a wallet purchase. If any TrapFree Test screen ever asks for card, UPI or bank details, do not enter them, and tell us.
  5. We may add test money to a test account.

5. Diagnostics: what you agree to share

TrapFree Test always sends detailed technical diagnostics (the "verbose" level) to our server while it is installed. By ticking the box you agree to this. It helps us find bugs on every kind of device.

What each diagnostic event contains: the time and a sequence number; a session id, your device id and an install id; the platform, whether it is a test or real build, the app, engine and operating-system versions; the kind of event (start/stop/install step, error, timing, server call, rule decision, self-check result, log line), its level, the part of the app, a name and a short message; how long an operation took; and only these extra details: sector, rule, target kind, server route, method, status, bytes, error code, site category (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, TrapFree server, block list or other), address pattern without any id (for example /shorts/:id), protection layer, self-check name and result, a count, screen, widget, store and payment provider. Error reports may include a cleaned-up technical trace.

Never collected: full web addresses or query strings, video or page titles, searches, page content, phone numbers, emails, tokens or keys, IP addresses, contacts, location, or file paths in your home folder. The app removes such things before sending, and our server rejects any event with other details.

Self-checks run when the app starts and every 6 hours, and report whether each part of protection is working.

How long we keep them: 30 days, then they are deleted.

The licence: on first start TrapFree Test sends our server the device's key, platform, model, the operating-system and app versions, and the version of this agreement you accepted in the app; we keep them with the device id, install id and the licence's start and end time. It never sends the device's name. They are deleted [N days] after the licence ends.

Your test account (its phone or email, devices, test wallet and settings, and that you accepted this agreement and when) is kept until [N days] after your last test licence ends, then deleted. The clock is the licence, not the app: an app still connecting after its test does not keep the account. Feedback you send is kept 2 years.

Your rights: you can stop the diagnostics at any time by uninstalling TrapFree Test, and ask us to delete your test data sooner by writing to [email protected]. The privacy notice explains all your rights and how to complain.

6. Feedback

You can send feedback through the form on the testing page or in the app. You allow us to use your feedback to improve TrapFree, without owing you anything. Please do not include other people's personal data. [Please do not publish screenshots of features that are not yet released.]

7. Device-specific notes

  • Mac: the download is signed and notarized by Apple. macOS asks for your password to install and to trust the test certificate.
  • Windows: the installer is signed. Windows SmartScreen may warn about a new app; your browser may show "Managed by your organization" while TrapFree Test is installed.
  • Android: TrapFree Test is a separate app on a Google Play closed testing track. Join through the Google Play testing link on the testing page, then install it from Google Play. It is never offered as a download from our website.
  • iPhone and iPad: TrapFree Test is distributed through Apple's TestFlight, under Apple's TestFlight terms.

8. No warranty

TrapFree Test is a test version. It may have bugs, block things it should not, miss things it should block, or stop working. It is provided "as is", without any warranty, as far as the law allows. Do not rely on it for anything important. If it gets in your way, uninstall it.

As far as the law allows, our liability to you for the test program is limited to [₹ amount]. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
