Side by side
| Topic | StayFree | TrapFree |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A free usage tracker with limits, app and website blocking, focus schedules and detailed statistics. Made by ST Pulse, a Sensor Tower company. | Stops the Shorts and Reels feed, keeps TikTok closed and gives YouTube and Instagram a daily limit you choose. |
| Devices | Android, iPhone and iPad, Windows, Mac and Linux, and extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Safari. | Mac, Windows, Android, iPhone and iPad, on one account. |
| Price | Free. | Blocking is free on one device. The paid extras and the wallet are optional; the Pricing page shows them for your country. |
| Shorts and Reels | An in-app blocker for Reels and Shorts, on Android only. | On Android, Mac and Windows: one clip at a time, never a feed, and the rest of the app keeps working. On iPhone, Apple allows only whole-app limits. |
| At the limit | Limits you set, with a PIN lock and extra anti-cheating settings on Android. | No “ignore” button. Two small free doors, then only the optional wallet, which waits 5 seconds on a notice first. |
Where StayFree is stronger
- Free, with detailed usage statistics across phone, computer and browser.
- A Linux app and browser extensions, which TrapFree does not have.
- 4.5 stars from about 280,000 ratings on Google Play.
Where TrapFree is different
- On Android and computers TrapFree stops only the Shorts and Reels feed: messages, search and the rest of YouTube and Instagram keep working.
- Your browsing stays on your device: our server never receives page addresses, video titles or searches. No ads, no trackers.
- The daily limit has no “go in anyway” button: past it there are two small free doors, then only the optional wallet, which waits 5 seconds on a notice first.
