Side by side
| Topic | ScreenZen | TrapFree |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A free, donation-funded screen-time app: pause screens, limits on how often an app opens, daily limits and schedules. | Stops the Shorts and Reels feed, keeps TikTok closed and gives YouTube and Instagram a daily limit you choose. |
| Devices | iPhone, iPad and Android. Its website also names Mac and Windows; we could not find those apps when we checked. | Mac, Windows, Android, iPhone and iPad, on one account. |
| Price | Free, with optional tips. | Blocking is free on one device. The paid extras and the wallet are optional; the Pricing page shows them for your country. |
| Shorts and Reels | Its App Store listing offers a mode without Reels, Shorts or endless feeds. | On Android, Mac and Windows: one clip at a time, never a feed, and the rest of the app keeps working. On iPhone, Apple allows only whole-app limits. |
| At the limit | A pause screen you can wait out, plus open limits and an optional lock mode. | No “ignore” button. Two small free doors, then only the optional wallet, which waits 5 seconds on a notice first. |

- 4.9 stars from about 52,000 ratings on the US App Store.
Where TrapFree is different
- The daily limit has no “go in anyway” button: past it there are two small free doors, then only the optional wallet, which waits 5 seconds on a notice first.
- A Windows app too, and one account across Mac, Windows, Android and iPhone.
- On Android and computers TrapFree stops only the Shorts and Reels feed: messages, search and the rest of YouTube and Instagram keep working.
